Cracking down on anti-social behaviour in Longton

Oct 06, 2016, 02:44 PM

Calls to curb anti-social behaviour in Longton have led to the introduction of Stoke-on-Trent's first ever Public Space Protection Order.

The order, which will last for three years, follows on from a consultation. It means that police and council officers can fine anyone who refuses to stop drinking alcohol in the town centre – other than in licensed premises.

Chris Robinson, councillor for Broadway and Longton East, says the order isn’t about banning troublemakers from the town though. He spoke to Jeff Short on our Community Choice show in June 2016.
