Money Pours in to Save Dorothy’s Ruby Red Slippers

Dorothy's famous ruby red slippers are only a couple clicks shy of reaching a different kind of Emerald City.

On Monday, the Smithsonian launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise $300,000 for repair and preservation work on the slippers that transport Dorothy back home at the end of "The Wizard of Oz" film.

Thanks to donations from more than 4,400 people, the campaign has already raised $242,000, as of noon on Friday.
