The Wheelhouse - The Seabin Project

The problem of plastic pollution in the oceans is impossible to avoid. You see it wherever you go, all over the world and, other than organising beach cleans and gathering it by hand, it’s a problem to which there is not yet a workable solution. But that’s about to change. The Seabin is an ingeniously simple device, which floats just below the surface of the water, in marinas and bays, and sucks in floating garbage. It can even collect diesel spills. Mike McDowall paid a visit to Seabin headquarters to find out how it works and to ask how soon we might see the Seabin in action around the world. Many thanks to Pete, Sascha and Sergio for giving Boat Radio so much of their valuable time.
