Talking Buses, Across The UK, Are A Step Closer.

For 6 years now, charities and supporters have been campaigning for all buses and coaches to have audio visual announcements fitted as standard. The facility would benefit sensory impaired travellers, as well as those with conditions such as dyslexia, or tourists, to have a better understanding of the location of the vehicle. Alan Brown, SNP, MP has managed to have an amendment proposed to the law, that would make it a legal obligation for operators to have audio visual announcements on all new vehicles. This change is currently being discussed in the House of Lords, before a debate in the House of Commons. RNIB Connect Radio's Allan Russell spoke to Alan Brown MP and Chris Theobald from the charity Guide Dogs to find out more.
