UNMISS Human Rights Officer explains significance of UPR

The UN Human Rights Council is expected to present recommendations aimed at improving the human rights situation in South Sudan. This is part of a Universal Periodic Review process of UN Member States currently going on in Geneva Switzerland.

Justice, Paulino Wanowila, presented a report before the Council’s working group on Monday , highlighting the government’s progress in the area of human rights.

Micheal Ngabirano, a Senior Human Rights officer at the United Nations Mission in South Sudan explains what comes next in the review process.
