UNICEF calls for recommitments to protecting childrens' rights

UN Children’s Organisation UNICEF is calling on the government, its leaders and partners to recommit themselves to protecting the basic rights of children.

The call comes on the 27th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, adopted by the United Nations on November 20th 1989, as a blue print for ensuring the respect of the basic rights of children, to allow them realize their full potential.

South Sudan ratified the Convention in May 2015, pledging to protect and promote the rights of children.

Tim Irwin, the UNICEF Chief Communications Officer in South Sudan says children should be protected as the country’s future. He spoke to Sebit William in this interview.
