Research begins to turn Coal into Carbon Fiber

A 1.6 million dollar research project aims to see of Utah coal can produce the pitch necessary to make carbon fiber. University of Utah chemical engineering professor Eric Eddings thinks it can. He and retired BYU professor Brent Strong were enlisted to check out the possibilities.
