Marie-Noelle Loewe on European citizenship and immigrants' rights in the UK

Episode 24,   Dec 13, 2016, 07:00 AM

Angela Merkel has recently denied Theresa May’s request to guarantee the rights to residence, work and healthcare for British people in the EU and Europeans in the UK post-Brexit until the UK government specifies the terms under which it will be leaving the union. The lobbying group 3 Million argues that this could result in up to 1m EU citizens facing deportation.

Today's guest, Marie-Noelle Loewe is a director of the civil rights organisation New Europeans, which advocates for European citizenship and the rights of EU citizens in the UK. We touch on a wide range of topics, from why there should be more of a European community spirit to why her generation has taken the stability and peace it brings for granted. We also discuss, why now is the time for immigrants in the UK to be loud and proud to defend their right to stay.
