The end of Devonair - 1994

The Radio Authority did not take away too many licences when they came up for renewal. Famously, it took away LBC's original licence; and the IBA, the Authority's predecessor, had not renewed Victory's franchise.

Devonair also lost its licence; a decision which was said to stem from it reluctance to commit to separate AM and FM programming. The station had been on-air since 7th November 1980.

Devonair was replaced by Gemini, which became Heart.
