“Hate speech has the potential to instill long term hatred in society,” warns Angelina Daniel a South Sudanese women’s activist and civil society campaigner.

Angelina says words that attack a person or group based on their gender, ethnic origin, religion or race can completely destroy the country.

In an impassioned call to the people of South Sudan, Angelina says in the absence of a specific law, countering hate speech should be a collective effort of politicians, women, youth and all South Sudanese.

Angelina Daniel spoke to Lucy Jubara in this powerful interview and started by warning that hate speech only increases violence and suffering.
