Shoppers desert shops as inflation bites - ADMISI

Feb 17, 2017, 11:45 AM

UK retail sales volumes dropped by 0.3% compared with the previous month, well below the 0.9% rise expected. Are consumers starting to crumble in the face of rising inflation?

Marc Ostwald, Strategist at ADMISI, says the pickup in the non discretionary costs is taking a toll on consumption.

Also discussed is the reason for the under performance of the treasury yields despite fresh record highs in the US stock markets, strong US data, and hawkish Yellen.

Is it a yield play or liquidity issue? Would yields spike if Trump presents a watered down version of the Dodd-Frank?

Watch Ostwald explains the nitty-gritty parts of the bond market. The segment is hosted by Presenter Jenny Hammond and Tip TV’s Zak Mir.
