CYCLE FOR BRYAN
Share
In 2012, during his second tour of duty in Afghanistan, Irish Guardsman L/Cpl Bryan Phillips, was badly injured in an IED blast.
Both of his legs had to be amputated above the knee, and since then he has worked hard to return to as normal a life as possible.
In a bid to improve his life further Bryan travelled to Australia where, at his own expense, he had two state of the art prosthetic legs fitted in a pioneering operation.
To help Bryan recover some of his financial outlay members of the Ulster Branch of the Irish Guards Association are this week cycling from Mizen (MIZ-IN) Head, to Malin (MAL-IN) Head (most Southern and Northern points of Ireland).
One of those taking part in the challenge is their Chairman, retired Major Bert Smith, he told Cherry Casey just how much the operation on the other side of the world meant to Bryan
