UN Chief appeals for aid access to famine stricken populations

The UN Secretary General Antonio Guteres has called for global action, stressing that more than 20 million people in South Sudan, Somalia, Nigeria and Yemen are going hungry and facing devastating levels of food insecurity.

Speaking at a press conference aimed at drawing the world's attention to the scale of humanitarian crises unfolding in the four countries, the secretary general said the world must avoid a catastrophe, UN Secretary-General António Guterres stressed.

Antonio Guterress made a personal appeal for donor contributions and stressed the need for warring parties to allow aid workers deliver aid to the needy people.
