Fire crews in Derbyshire want hundreds of families in the UK to find out if this noise wakes up their children.
Derbyshire Fire and Rescue and scientists at Dundee Uni are carrying out a study after research found a normal smoke alarm only wakes up 20 per cent of kids aged under 14.
Early testing of this new sound has a 90 per cent success rate.
