The Food and Agriculture Organization, FAO has distributed 8,000 fishing kits to communities in Unity, in response to a famine declaration by the United Nations in parts of Southern Unity.

FAO representative in South Sudan, Serge Tissot says the distributions in the areas of Mayendit, Leer and Koch will help increase local food production, and says priority is being given to areas struck by the famine and those facing severe food insecurity.

Tissot says FAO is plaining to distribute a total of 150 dozen fishing kits to communities in South Sudan this year.

The FAO representative spoke to Susan Dokolo in this interview.
