SRSG pledges support for peace efforts in Greater Jonglei

The UN Special Representative and Head of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan, David Shearer was in Bor on Thursday as part of a countrywide tour to assess the activities of the UN Mission.

Mr. Shearer met with government officials, traditional leaders and UN officials.

The main message conveyed to the Special Representative was concerns about child abductions and cattle raids threatening peace between the communities of greater Jonglei.

Addressing journalists after the visit, the Special Representative said the United Nations remains committed to supporting peace initiatives.
