PSNI plan may close ``40% of stations"

PSNI has announced proposals to close 34 police stations in N.Ireland as part of a rationalisation plan. If approved by the Policing Board and subject to public consultation, it could mean 40 per cent of all stations here being shut. PSNI say it'll save £3.5m a year which will go to £135m worth of cuts they've to make over the next four years. They're also investing in satellite tracker technology for their vehicles which should allow for more effective response to incidents
