Should MPs be prevented from employing spouses and relatives?

At the moment there are about 150 MPs who employ spouses or family members but the new rules will only affect newly elected MPs after 2020. The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority said it had not brought this in because there had been rules broken or inappropriate claims but because the practice of employing "connected parties" is out of step with modern employment practices.
