Authorities in Uganda are looking at the possibility of allocating land in Lamwo district in northern Uganda to open up a new refugee settlement to absorb the increasing influx of South Sudanese crossing the border.

Uganda is hosting nearly 800,000 South Sudanese in camps in Adjumani, Yumbe, Moyo and Arua districts.

Titus Jogo, the Refugee Desk Officer in Adjumani, says they are faced with a recent influx of about five thousand refugees fleeing latest attacks in Pajok, Imatong state.

Jogo says there are plans to identify more land in Lamwo district to absorb the new arrivals.
