Hogan on metro funding: Hogan said he also raised the issue of money for Metro in his recent meeting with Chao. Dedicated funding, which WMATA has always lacked, is “not on the table,” he said, though the governor has signaled support for allowing Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties to tax their own residents to fund Metro. But the governor is interested in getting more federal funding. “The discussion I had with the Secretary of Transportation was 40 percent of the people who ride Metro are federal government workers, and you need to step up and pay more,” Hogan said.
