A group of East Midlands doctors, who work for free in their spare time and holidays, went to 1731 emergencies last year, 8% more calls outs than the year before.

EMICS Doctors support paramedics with some of their most serious casualties.

26 doctors volunteer in our region and have their cars loaded up with special emergency kit and drugs.

More doctors want to volunteer for East Midlands Immediate Care Scheme (EMICS) but more funding is needed for them to join the team.

A typical set of equipment for the doctors cost around £6,000 and includes defibrillators and protective boots.
