Fresh calls to stop MLA pay if there is no breakthrough in the Stormont stalemate

Former Secretary of State Owen Patterson has backed calls for an end to MLA pay. The Government has decided to extend the Stormont talks deadline beyond the General Election. So the parties now have until the end of June to reach a deal. But the body overseeing MLAs pay has said the Secretary of State must 'turn off the tap' should those talks fail.
