They work tirelessly to bring life into the world, and yet they often do not receive as much as a nod. We are talking about midwives.
Today we commemorate the International Day of the Midwife, a day to honour the noble service of midwives and their unique position in this noble service.
The theme of the day is, "Midwives, Mothers and Families: Partners for Life!"
Sake Jemilia the President of the South Sudan Nursing and Midwives Association is calling for more people to join the profession to reduce the high maternal and infant mortality rates.
