The South Sudan Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (SSRRC) says its decision to raise registration fees for national and international non-governmental organisations was based on results of a survey that indicated that the organizations spend at least 60 percent of their budget on administrative costs.
“Let’s not give lame excuses that the increase in registration will hamper humanitarian operations in the country. This is an administrative decision ….all NGOs have to comply with it.”
The RRC this week issued a directive raising registration fees from 450 US dollars to 500 dollars for national NGOs, while licensing fees for international NGOs have been hiked from 650 to 3,500 US dollars.
In this exclusive interview with Radio Miraya’s Henry Lokuri the Deputy Chairperson of the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission, Paul Del Gum, says the decision will not affect delivery of much needed humanitarian assistance.
