UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is asking the international community to donate generously in support of Somalia.
Guterres made the appeal at an international conference in London during which he announced an appeal for a further 900 million US dollars to cover relief and development efforts in the Horn of Africa country this year.
Co-chaired by the UK, Somalia and the United Nations, the London-Somalia Conference will agree on a New Partnership Agreement that sets out the terms of international support for the country’s transition to a more peaceful and prosperous country by 2020. Guterres asked the donors and international community to save Somalia and build on gains already made.
