Jun 06, 2017, 11:13 AM

Amid growing concerns about impunity in East Africa and the growing wave of transnational organised crime, Wayamo Foundation, an independent, non-profit organization is hosting the first ever symposium in Arusha.

The symposium, which has brought together 100 experts on international and transnational criminal law, human rights activists, academics and practitioners from the field of international and transnational criminal law, aims to discuss judicial measures designed to ensure accountability for serious crimes.

The problem of impunity alone is a massive challenge and according to Bettina Ambach, the director of Wayamo Foundation, the fight against impunity must be backed by a high degree of accountability and cooperation.

Bettina Ambach told Judie Kaberia, a Kenyan award winning Human Rights Journalist, why this symposium is a significant step towards fighting impunity and transnational organized crime.
