The director of Wayamo Foundation, Bettina Ambach, has called for stronger counter hate speech measures, following concerns about the growing wave of hate speech in countries like South Sudan.

Wayamo Foundation, an independent, non-profit organization established to strengthen the rule of law, promote international criminal justice and foster transparency through informed journalism, is conducting intensive training for journalists to understand hate speech and find ways of offering counter speech.

Speaking ahead of an international symposium on fighting impunity in Arusha Tanzania, Bettina told Judie Kaberia, a Kenyan award winning Human Rights Journalist, that it’s time for the media to toughen its strategies to counter hatespeech.
