Boat Radio - The Voyage of Southern Cross

Howard Rice’s original intention was to sail a tiny boat around Tierra del Fuego. His plans have now increased in scope and he’ll be taking his home built SCAMP, Southern Cross, on a series of voyages in various seas, lakes and rivers around the world, connecting with schools as he goes. It is a wonderful and inspiration project worthy of everyone’s attention. But the first of the voyages ended prematurely and could easily have cost Howard his life. It certainly very nearly cost him his vessel. In fact, were it not for a remarkable chance encounter, Southern Cross might never have returned. This is a story of courage, kindness and coincidence. This is amazing.
