Fourteen South Sudanese youths are set to travel to US for the 2017 Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders.

The four of the 14 fellows are; Jacob Bul, actor, filmmaker and radio producer, Haak Madol Betiem, Supply Excecutive Nile Pet, Miriam Modong Dangasuk Water and Habitat Engineer at International Committee of the Red Cross, and Joseph Oliver Wani.

They will join other youths from all over Africa for the program of president Obama’s Young African Leaders Initiative - YALI.

The Mandela Washington Fellowship, which began in 2014, will provide up to 1,000 outstanding young leaders from Sub-Saharan Africa with the opportunity to hone their skills at a U.S. college or university with support for professional development after they return home.

President Obama launched YALI in 2010 to support young African leaders as they spur growth and prosperity, strengthen democratic governance, and enhance peace and security across Africa.

Miraya Breakfast show host, Samuel Pawon, spoke with three of the four Yali Fellows in an exciting discussion about their hopes and expectations.
