When your ex is blowing up the phone over your teen are you obligated to pick it up?

Robin say's Joe's ex is always on the phone with complaints about his teenage son but when they have him on the weekends they never call her with issues. Joe says as a parent his ex is in over her head and he needs to be available. What do you think?
