South Sudan Teenager speaks with the SRSG on Day of the African child

The children of South Sudan have made their voices heard, demanding for respect of their rights.

Radio Miraya today dedicated the day to hearing from the children themselves.

Ayat Dominic Martin, a senior three student at Lighthouse secondary school spoke with the Head of the UN Mission and UN Special-Representative, Mr. David Shearer and explained the plight of the children of South Sudan.

Ayat, the youngest person that has ever interviewed the SRSG, shared her dreams of becoming a lawyer and described the obstacles hindering children like herself.

The Special Representative said the future of the country depends on the young generation adding that "everyday should be children's day."
