Children’s Commissioner Koulla Yiasouma tells @StephenNolan why she is launching a mental health review for kids and young people

Did you know that in 2012, the five year average suicide rate for 15 to 19 year olds was four times higher in Northern Ireland than for England and Wales. And, in 2014, 550 under 16s and 5500 16 to 19 year olds were prescribed anti-depressants or anti-anxiety drugs. The Northern Ireland Commissioner for Children and Young People, Koulla Yiasouma, has now launched an Independent Review of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services or CAMHS in Northern Ireland following concerns that provision is inadequate and access is unequal.
