Arua overwhelmed by South Sudanese Refugees, says LC 5 chairman

The Local Council chairperson of Arua district in Northern Uganda says the refugee influx into his district, has put a big strain on the host communities and their resources.
"Arua alone has a population of 790 -thousand, but now we have an additional of two hundred and eighty thousand refugees," Sam Wadri Nyakua elaborated.
"They go our health centers which were originally planned for the nationals, " he added.
On a visit to Imvempi Refugee Camp on Thursday, the UN secretary General, Antonio Guterres, praised the “the extraordinary generosity of the people and the Government of Uganda, receiving so many hundreds of thousands, almost 1 million, South Sudanese refugees as sisters and brothers and sharing with them their land and everything they have”.
The Local Council chairman admitted that the refugee crisis has already put a strain on the resources refugees have to share with the host communities.
Wandri Sam Nyakua, told Radio Miraya Reporter, Sani Martin, that the root cause of the conflict in South Sudan needs to be addressed, so people can return to their homes.
