An online safety specialist at Nottinghamshire County Council's told Capital if parents aren't willing to understand technology, they shouldn't be giving it to their children.

Lorna Naylor recommends mums and dads get up to speed with any apps and tech that their kids are using, so they're better equipped to keep their children safe.

Primary School teachers are now getting online safety training in Nottinghamshire, something secondary school teachers have been having already.

Figures out earlier this year showed that 40 per cent of children get a mobile phone before they leave primary school. The same study also showed that young children are even more likely to be given tablets, with 400,000 nationally owning one by the age of ten.
