In the first elimination game of the 2017 Region 8C Tournament in Pierz on Sunday, the Lightning edged the Lakers 6-5 as Luke Schumer homered twice and added a double as well as coming out of the bullpen to earn the win for Nisswa. The Lightning fended off a bottom of the 9th surge from Lastrup, who left the bases loaded in their final at-bat.
