(August 2, 2017)-  Some good Samaritans helped Cape Coral officers nab a purse-snatcher last night.

Just before 7:00 PM, Cape Coral Police responded to a robbery call at 1603 Cape Coral Parkway West.  Communications advised the responding officers that a purse-snatching had just occurred at the Publix located at 1616 Cape Coral Parkway West and that bystanders pursued and detained the suspect across the street at the Circle K.

Investigation revealed that the suspect, later identified as 24 year-old Marshall Z. Barker, of Cape Coral, stole the victim’s purse from her buggy and then tried to leave the store.  The victim caught and grabbed Barker and her purse, trying to wrestle it back from him.  Barker let go of the purse after a brief struggle and fled on foot with two witnesses in pursuit, who subdued him at Circle K.

Barker was taken into custody and charged with Robbery by Sudden Snatching and was transported to Lee County Jail.
