(August 8, 2017) - Detectives with the Cape Coral Police Department's Major Crimes Unit made a quick arrest of a man who attempted to rob a 7/11 convenience store last night.

On August 8, 2017 at approximately 2:50am, officers responded to the 7/11 store located at 345 Cape Coral Parkway East. The clerk told police a man had come in demanding money and stating he had a gun, though never showing one. He was described as wearing a beanie hat with eyeholes cut out pulled down over his face, along with a black long sleeve shirt and blue sweatpants. The suspect was seen running westbound, and officers established a perimeter.

A K-9 track was started and quickly located a pair of shoes and sweatpants abandoned in a yard. Also found in the area was Brandon Meredith (DOB: 8-18-91). Further investigation and evidence discovery soon developed probable cause for the arrest of Meredith for the charge of attempted robbery. He was placed under arrest this afternoon and transported to the Lee County Jail.
