#SouthSudan Foreign Missions ‘cash-strapped,’ staff go four months without salaries

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed to Radio Miraya that the country’s missions abroad are facing extreme financial challenges, with some staff going up to four months without salaries.

Reports in the media suggest the embassy in Washington, USA faces closure over non-payment of eight-month rent arrears.

Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Ambassador Mawien Makol Arik confirms the economic pinch is being felt across all twenty-nine embassies.

He asks the diplomats to remain patient, as the issue is resolved.
