The Navy Lark

Launched on the BBC Light Programme in 1959, The Navy Lark was a hugely popular sitcom. It starred the likes of Jon Pertwee, Ronnie Barker and Leslie Phillips. Its familiar signature tune was a traditional hornpipe piece called St Ninian's Isle.
The series ended in 1976 after fifteen series, albeit the Queen’s Silver Jubilee prompted a special edition in 1977.
