The Housing Executive has confirmed to the Nolan Show that "a number of families in the South Belfast area have presented to us as homeless claiming sectarian intimidation." The Housing Executive also confirmed to this show that the area concerned is Cantrell Close. It is a housing development which is part of the Together Building United Communities programme. The strategy, which was launched by the Northern Ireland Executive in 2013, is aimed at "improving community relations and building a united and shared society". In June earlier this year there was controversy when union flags and and Ulster Volunteer Force flags were put up in the area. Stephen got reaction to this from Alliance MLA Paula Bradshaw and Sinn Fein's Máirtín Ó Muilleoir.
