New strategy aims to Reduce Child marriages in South Sudan

A new strategy launched by the Founder & Creative Director of House of Bany, aims to reduce the number of early child marriages in South Sudan through modelling and photography.

Nyagoa Nyuon, a former model and creative designer, is spearheading the Catwalk to Freedom initiative. She believes that this initiative has the potential to “expose a handful of girls to the fashion industry” and to help them “step into the modelling world and earn enough money to pay off their own dowries.”

Nyagoa told Miraya Breakfast show that child marriages can be controlled if girls are given an opportunity to explore their full potential.
