A coalition of civil society organizations has petitioned the national legislature calling on the government to reconsider its directive for motorists to acquire new number plates and driving licenses.

The 32 civil society groups handed their petition to the Transitional National Legislative Assembly and the Council of States, questioning the legality of the process and charges of the new unified licensing procedures.

The petitioners are challenging the legality of the motor vehicle licensing, the conduct of unified motor Vehicle number plates, the process of implementation and the legality of the charges.

Our reporter Lwak Nelson caught up with Rajab Muhandis and he started by shedding more light on the petition.
