Figures given to kmfm have revealed a significant shortage in the number of school governors in Kent. They're the people who hold schools to account, make sure they're being run properly and ensure children are getting a good education. A charity that recruits and trains them says at the start of this academic year there were more than 560 positions vacant at almost 600 schools in the county. Louise Cooper is chief executive.
