UNICEF hand-wash campaign targets 12 schools in Juba

October 15 is Global Handwashing Day, a global advocacy day designed to increase awareness and understanding about the importance of handwashing with soap as an effective and affordable way to prevent diseases and save lives.

According to the Global Handwashing.org website, the Day is an opportunity to design, test, and replicate creative ways to encourage people to wash their hands with soap at critical times.

Lilian Okwirry- Deputy representative and Chief of WASH - Water Hygiene and Sanitation UNICEF, and Peter Mahal – Director General Ministry of Water resources and Irrigation appeared on Miraya Breakfast show, to help us understand the idea behind the Global hand-washing day.
