Brighthouse, which hires out sofas and TVs on rent-to-buy deals, has been told to compensate nearly a 250,000 customers almost £15 million. A watchdog's found the firm was agreeing contracts with people who couldn't afford the repayments. Nicola from Dover used Brighthouse to get a laptop for her daughter, which she was still being charged for when it broke. She told kmfm she wasn't really interrogated about her financial situation.
