Walgreens, the second-largest pharmacy chain in the U.S., is about to become a lot bigger—with the purchase of nearly 2,000 [f500link]Rite Aid[/f500link] stores in the works.

But there's a downside for consumers: Your neighborhood pharmacy might close.

Walgreens currently has roughly 8,175 locations in the U.S., second only to [f500link]CVS/f500link in terms of pharmacy chains. For two years, Walgreens has waged a campaign to boost its footprint by scooping up Rite Aid locations.
