UNMISS to increase Presence in Akobo town of South Sudan

The United Nations Mission plans to increase its presence in Akobo town, in what has been described as efforts by the UN peacekeeping forces to reach more vulnerable people in remote parts of South Sudan.
On a visit to Akobo Town on Wednesday, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, in South Sudan, David Shearer, said the UN mission in the country plans to increase its presence in Akobo town as the mission takes a more “nimble and proactive” approach.
David Shearer said the needs of people in Akobo town are immense, and UNMISS is looking at ways of extending a presence in the town.
