The army spokesperson says a ‘limited presence’ of security forces remain around the home of the former army chief of staff Gen Paul Malong to avoid unforeseen eventualities.

Addressing journalists at the SPLA headquarters in Juba on Thursday, Brigadier Lul Ruai said efforts continue to resolve the standoff regarding the withdrawal of some of the guards stationed at the Juba residence to their respective units.

Brig Lul says the issue is being handled at political level with the involvement of concerned citizens and traditional leaders from General Malong’s home area. The large deployments have been a matter of concern since Friday.

SPLA spokesperson Brig Lul Ruai is confident the matter will be resolved peacefully.

He also briefed journalists on the general security situation in Juba.
