Public Health Specialist in South Sudan warns against self medication

A public health specialist is warning against the dangers of self-medication.

Dr. Kadyang Modi, a public health specialist in the Ministry of Health says the practice gives room for misdiagnosis and incorrect treatment, which could result in prolonged illness and complications.

Dr Modi makes the comments as the world marks Anti-biotics Awareness Week – dedicated to raising awareness on the appropriate use of antibiotics.

Dr Kadyang told Miraya Breakfast show that tightened controls should be put in place to make sure medicines are sold on prescription.
