Keith Hackett on the Oumar Niasse FA charge & the future of refereeing

Nov 21, 2017, 04:15 PM

Everton striker Oumar Niasse has become the first Premier League player to be charged by the Football Association for (quote) "successful deception of a match official".

He won a controversial penalty in the Toffees 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Recently introduced laws mean that he’s been charged retrospectively and will now serve a 2 game ban – pending the players right to appeal until 6pm today.

Andy Lawson's been chatting with former top flight referee Keith Hackett to get his take on today's news and future of refereeing.

Note since the call was recorded it's being reported that Everton have contested Niasse's charge.
